biography
Mike Moya helped form Godspeed You! Black Emperor in 1994 and played guitar during the band's early development. He returned when the group became active again in 2010.
Moya's playing belongs to the patient, textural side of the band: sustained guitar tones, slow melodic arcs, and ensemble movement that builds without relying on conventional verse or solo structures.
Outside GY!BE, Moya leads Hrsta and appears in the orbit of Set Fire to Flames, carrying parts of the Montreal experimental language into smaller and more intimate forms.
