1-Speed Bike is the solo project of Aidan Girt, drummer of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Exhaust. It moves away from orchestral post-rock toward raw, politically charged electronic music.
The project uses lo-fi textures, samples, breakbeats, and a deliberately abrasive energy. Its track titles and presentation often sharpen the political edge already present around GY!BE's world.
As a crossing path, 1-Speed Bike documents how a GY!BE percussionist translated rhythmic pressure into a more electronic and sample-based form.
