Efrim Menuck began releasing solo records as Efrim Manuel Menuck in 2011, the year after GY!BE returned from hiatus. Plays "High Gospel" and Pissing Stars came out on Constellation and sit between Silver Mt. Zion's vocal intensity and a more private, home-recorded drone language.
The solo records lean on synthesizers, drum machines, processed voice, and long repeating figures rather than ensemble crescendos. Their politics are close to the surface, but the delivery is quieter and more fragile than in his band work.
Menuck also works across a string of duos and small groups documented separately in this archive, including SING SINCK, SING, ALL HANDS_MAKE LIGHT, BLOOM AND RUIN, and WE ARE WINTER'S BLUE AND RADIANT CHILDREN.
