BLOOM AND RUIN is the duo of Efrim Manuel Menuck and Tashi Dorji, the Bhutan-born guitarist based in Asheville, North Carolina. Menuck had already recorded an improvised set with MANAS, Dorji's group with Thom Nguyen, during its 2022 tour with GY!BE; it was released as the cassette At House Unamerican.
Two Liberations was recorded partly live on 11 November 2023 and partly in 2024 and 2025. It sets long drones against Dorji's splintered, percussive guitar playing, closer to free improvisation than to anything in GY!BE's composed long forms.
The duo is booked to present the project at Big Ears Festival in April 2027.
